Job Summary: Serves as the company's primary legal advisor, ensuring compliance with national and international laws, particularly within the gold trade sector. Leads the legal function, ensuring compliance with gold trade regulations and national laws.
Key Responsibilities

Oversight of the Legal Department, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight of legal operations and external counsel.

Provide expert legal advice on national laws, international gold trade regulations, and corporate governance, ensuring company-wide compliance.

Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and management of all legal contracts and agreements.

Manage and resolve legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation, to protect the company's interests.
Skills and Qualification Requirements

Master’s degree in International Trade Law, Corporate Governance, or a related field.

Must be a member of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) with at least 10 years at the bar.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a senior role.

Extensive experience in corporate law, with a focus on regulatory compliance and international trade, preferably within the gold or mining industry.

Proven experience in contract negotiation, dispute resolution, and litigation management.

Understanding of national and international gold trade regulations.

Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and develop a legal team.

Principal Officer, Legal

Job Summary: Support the Head of Department, Legal, in ensuring regulatory compliance within the gold trade. Provide legal expertise, manage contracts, and assist with government liaison to ensure the company's operations align with national and international gold trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide legal advisory services on regulatory compliance, contracts, and governance matters related to the gold trade.

Assist with contract management by supporting the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex legal contracts.

Prepare legal documentation and assist in interpreting and applying national and international gold trade regulations.

Conduct in-depth legal research on relevant legislation and case law to ensure compliance with evolving industry standards.

Analyse potential legal risks associated with gold trade operations and provide recommendations for mitigation.

Liaise with government agencies, stakeholders, and external legal counsel as required to ensure compliance with regulations.

Support internal departments with legal insights to ensure operational alignment with regulatory standards.

Senior Officer, Legal
Reports To: Principal Officer, Legal
Job Summary: Assist senior lawyers by handling administrative tasks, conducting legal research, managing case files, and ensuring efficient office operations to support legal functions.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with documentation preparation and management, including drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal documents such as contracts, briefs, and pleadings.

Schedule appointments, hearings, and court dates, coordinating with all relevant parties.

Support trial preparation by attending trials, preparing case briefs, and ensuring all necessary materials are ready.

Conduct legal research, including investigating case-relevant information, summarising depositions, interrogatories, and testimonies.

Ensure that all case files and materials are organized and accessible, assisting senior lawyers in managing their caseloads.

Maintain and update legal records, documents, and case management systems.
Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Paralegal Studies, or related discipline.

Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a legal environment.

Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to draft and edit legal documents effectively.
