Job Summary: Leads the strategic oversight of the organisation’s capacity-building initiatives, environmental restoration, and technical support services for the gold sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee sustainability strategies, promoting ethical mining, environmental responsibility, and governance excellence in Ghana’s gold sector.

  • Lead mining support initiatives, providing technical assistance, regulatory guidance, and training programmes for industry players.

  • Engage with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders, shaping policies that enhance responsible mining and sustainable development.

  • Supervise ESG initiatives, integrating environmental, social, and governance best practices into the organisation’s operations.

  • Champion environmental conservation and social responsibility, ensuring compliance with national and international frameworks.

  • Monitor and mitigate risks in mining operations, implementing strategies that promote safe and sustainable practices.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Governance, Environmental Science, Mining Management/, Mining Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in ESG, mining operations, or industry support services, with at least years in senior leadership, with at least 4 years in a senior role

  • Ethical and sustainability-driven, committed to responsible mining and social impact.

  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills for addressing ESG risks and challenges.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence policy and drive industry-wide improvements.

  • Resilient and adaptable in managing evolving regulatory and environmental conditions.

Head of Unit, Mining Support

Reports To: Director, Support Services

Job Summary: Provides technical and operational leadership to enhance artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) efficiency, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director, Support Services, in developing and implementing capacity-building initiatives that enhance technical expertise, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance among small-scale miners.

  • Facilitate access to essential mining infrastructure and resources, promoting efficiency and sustainability in artisanal and small-scale mining operations.

  • Work closely with the Technical Directorate to ensure miners adopt responsible sourcing practices, refining standards, and export regulations.

  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders, helping miners navigate legal frameworks and achieve formalisation.

  • Champion environmental conservation and responsible mining initiatives, supporting miners in implementing eco-friendly practices.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in ,Mine Management, Policy, Industry Development, Mining Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or a related field.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in mining operations, regulatory compliance, or capacity-building initiatives, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.

  • Passionate about responsible mining and industry sustainability.

  • Analytical and detail-focused in assessing mining risks and solutions.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to train and support industry stakeholders.

Principal Officer, Mining Support

Reports To: Head of Unit, Mining Support

Job Summary: Supports the Head of Unit in delivering strategic and operational support to mining entities, with a focus on field implementation, compliance monitoring, and stakeholder engagement to promote responsible mining practices and sector formalisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate on-site assessments and provide technical support to mining cooperatives and licensees.

  • Monitor compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards in small-scale mining.

  • Support the roll-out of formalisation initiatives, capacity-building programmes, and awareness campaigns.

  • Prepare technical reports and provide recommendations on field operations and sector challenges.

  • Engage with miners, regulators, and community leaders to enhance collaboration and regulatory uptake.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in mining operations, field inspections, or regulatory support roles.

  • Practical knowledge of ASM (Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining) practices and compliance requirements.

  • Strong field coordination, communication, and technical problem-solving skills.

  • High ethical standards, adaptability, and commitment to sustainable mining.

Senior Officer, Mining Support

Reports To: Head, Mining Support

Job Summary: Assists the Head of Mining Support in providing technical guidance, training, and operational support to artisanal and small-scale miners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Mining and Support in the development and execution of programmes to support artisanal and small-scale miners (ASMs).

  • Facilitate training sessions for ASMs on responsible mining techniques, health, and safety.

  • Coordinate with financial institutions to enhance access to financing for small-scale miners.

  • Support the distribution and maintenance of government-provided mining equipment and tools.

  • Monitor compliance with formalisation policies and ensure ASMs adhere to regulatory standards.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Business Development or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in small-scale mining, community engagement, or mining policy implementation.

  • Ethical and committed to responsible mining practices.

Head of Unit, ESG

Reports To: Director, Mining Support

Job Summary: Leads the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Unit, driving the integration of responsible mining practices and sustainability standards across operations. Oversees the implementation of ESG strategies, ensuring compliance with national and international frameworks and promoting sustainable value creation in the gold sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement ESG strategies, policies, and frameworks aligned with global best practices and national priorities.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguards across gold production, refining, and trade.

  • Engage stakeholders, including regulators, communities, and development partners on ESG initiatives.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on ESG performance and sustainability impacts.

  • Guide the integration of climate resilience, biodiversity, and human rights standards in sector operations.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, or a related field; Master’s preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in ESG, sustainability, or environmental compliance, with 4 years in a leadership role.

  • Deep knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, ISSB), and environmental and social regulations.

  • Demonstrated leadership in multi-stakeholder engagement, policy development, and project implementation.

  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and team management skills.

Job Summary: Provides technical and operational leadership to enhance artisanal and small-scale mining efficiency, safety, and compliance, and supervises mining extension services, introducing improved mining technologies, and ensuring adherence to environmental and occupational health standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor ESG performance and impact, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and ensure continuous improvement.

  • Aid in the development and implementation of ESG policies, integrating environmental responsibility, governance best practices, and social impact strategies into the organisation’s operations.

  • Ensure compliance with global ESG standards, driving adherence to frameworks such as the OECD Due Diligence Guidance and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

  • Coordinates and participates in ESG audits and risk assessments, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions.

  • Monitor ESG performance and impact, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and ensure continuous improvement.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Corporate Governance, ESG Management preferred.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in ESG, responsible mining, or sustainability strategy, with at least two (2) years in a senior role.

  • Experience working with regulatory bodies and international sustainability frameworks.

  • Coordination with regulatory bodies, industry stakeholders, and internal teams on sustainability initiatives.

  • Risk assessment and decision-making on environmental compliance, social impact, and governance adherence.

  • Oversight of ESG audits, sustainability impact assessments, and responsible sourcing initiatives.

Job Summary: Supports the Principal Officer, ESG in executing the Organisation’s sustainability initiatives, monitoring compliance with ESG policies, and ensuring responsible gold sourcing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor compliance with environmental and social regulations, ensuring responsible mining practices.

  • Conduct assessments on the environmental and social impacts of gold mining activities.

  • Support the integration of climate change mitigation strategies within the gold value chain.

  • Coordinate stakeholder engagements on ESG matters, including community consultations and government liaison.

  • Develop reports on ESG performance, highlighting risks, opportunities, and compliance gaps.

  • Support training programmes on ESG standards for staff and external stakeholders.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Social Sciences or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in ESG compliance, sustainability reporting, or responsible sourcing.

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and sustainability risk assessment.

  • Proficiency in data collection, sustainability reporting, and impact measurement.

  • Familiarity with environmental conservation strategies, carbon reduction, and circular economy models.
